Haiti
Better late than never right....
My season of travel has come to an end and I do not have any more trips lined up...yet. It is kind of bittersweet, but I am excited for the potential of the next adventure! If you follow me on social media you probably know that it was not an easy journey home, it took us 30 hours with missed connections, long waits, standbys and an almost missing passport. It was crazy, but that didn't take away from the experience we had in the beautiful country of Haiti.
When traveling to a new place you never really know what to expect but you can always count on a few things when traveling to a third-world nation: you always know you will not have AC, you won't be able to flush toilet paper, your perfume will consist of sweat and bug spray and you will for sure need and hot water is a luxury you can enjoy when you get back home. Haiti may be third-world but it was beautiful, on one side you have the mountains and on the other the crystal blue Caribbean sea!
5 years ago today Haiti experienced a 7.0 earthquake that literally shook up the country! Haiti has come a long way but it still has a long way to go. We partnered with Alex's House, an orphanage that actually started after the earthquake to be a safe home for children left on the streets. We got to travel around the town to different villages and churches to love on and teach children about jesus! We would share the gospel everywhere we went and sing songs and play games. My favorite part was that we got to see what the Lord is doing all over Haiti through the local churches and how he is raising up children and young leaders everywhere that can literally change the face of Haiti. I believe that the best is yet to come for Haiti and was blown away last week getting to be a small part of it.
"Look at the nations, watch and be utterly amazed; For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe even if you were told." Habakkuk 1:5
Enough of me talking! Lets let my photos share the story of Haiti! Enjoy!
