Baby Adeline's In-Home Lifestyle Newborn Session | Greenville, SC
Baby Adeline slept through her entire newborn session.
Not a stir. Not a peep. Completely, perfectly, deeply asleep — tucked into her pink swaddle with a bow bigger than her head, while the rest of us fell completely in love with her.
And her big brother? He was first in line.
This in-home lifestyle newborn session in Greenville, SC had everything — a nursery that looked like it was pulled straight from a dream, a living room full of color and personality, two parents completely glowing, and one older brother who proved that smitten is not just a word for moms and dads.
The Big Brother Who Stole the Show
I photograph a lot of siblings. Toddlers who want to poke the baby. Kids who want to hold the baby for exactly four seconds before they are done. Little ones who are still figuring out what a baby even is.
And then there are the older siblings — the ones who get it. Who understand what just happened to their family and feel the weight of it in the best possible way.
Adeline's big brother was that kid.
He sat down on the couch in his mint green shirt, held his baby sister like he had been waiting for her, and just looked at her. Studied her. The tenderness in those images is not something I directed or posed or manufactured. He brought it himself. That is the kind of moment you cannot recreate — you can only be ready for it when it happens.
There is a particular kind of joy in photographing an older sibling with a newborn. The gentleness is intentional. The love is fully formed. He already knew exactly who she was going to be to him, even if she was still too new to the world to know it back.
Those images are going to mean everything to both of them someday.
A Nursery That Deserved Its Own Session
I say this with full sincerity: Adeline's nursery could have carried this entire session on its own.
Soft gray crib. Pink curtains puddling on the floor. A floral mobile hanging just so. Pink paper flower wall decor. A glider tucked in the corner where her mom sat holding her like the whole room had been built for exactly that moment. Because it had.
The palette was soft and feminine and so thoughtfully put together — the kind of nursery where every detail was chosen with intention. It photographed beautifully in the natural light, and it told you everything you needed to know about how loved this little girl already was before she ever arrived.
We moved through the nursery slowly, which is exactly what a sleeping baby allows you to do. Mom in the glider. Dad by the crib. Both of them together, looking down at her, still a little in disbelief that she was real and she was theirs.
When Your Baby Sleeps Through the Whole Session (And Why That Is a Gift)
Here is something I tell every family before their newborn session: you cannot control the baby. Some newborns are awake and alert and full of opinions from the first minute. Some sleep so deeply you almost have to check that they are breathing.
Adeline was the second kind. Completely out. Peaceful in a way that only brand new humans can be — unhurried, unworried, unbothered by all the people around her quietly losing their minds over how perfect she was.
For solo newborn images, a sleeping baby is a dream. We laid her on the white bedding and she stayed exactly where we put her while I documented every tiny detail. The pink bow hat. The swaddle wrapped just right. The birth announcement disc with her stats. The little pink lace romper she wore later in the session, curled up like she had been doing this forever.
And through all of it — the color frames, the details, the nursery portraits — she slept.
