Fresh 48 Photographer in Greenville, SC

Some families know right away that they want a Fresh 48 session. They want the still-swollen cheeks, the first time dad holds her, the quiet of the room before siblings arrive and the world starts moving again. That is the Fresh 48. And it only happens once.

I photograph Fresh 48 sessions at hospitals across the Greenville area and Upstate SC, including Patewood Memorial Hospital and St. Francis. Sessions are relaxed, unhurried, and completely documentary in style. I am not posing your baby. I am not asking you to look at the camera every five minutes. I am just there, watching it happen, and making sure you have something to look at for the rest of your life.

What Is a Fresh 48 Session?

A Fresh 48 is a hospital-based newborn session that happens within the first 48 hours after your baby is born. These are not the same as posed studio newborn sessions. There are no props, no wraps arranged just so, no pressure to perform. It is documentary photography at its most honest.

What I actually photograph during a Fresh 48:

  • Your baby's details: tiny fingers, the way they curl their toes, that perfect newborn nose

  • The way you look at them for the first time (and the second time, and the fifteenth time)

  • Skin-to-skin moments, first feeds, the quiet things nobody warns you to remember

  • Siblings meeting the baby for the first time

  • Your partner holding them while you finally sleep

These are the photos that remind you what it actually felt like to be there.

What to Expect

Is a Fresh 48 Right for You?

A Fresh 48 is a great fit if:

  • You want to document the very beginning, not just the first weeks

  • You love candid, documentary-style photography

  • You are delivering at a hospital in the Greenville or Upstate SC area

  • You want photos that feel real rather than styled

You might prefer a newborn session instead if:

  • You want a more curated, at-home lifestyle feel

  • Your baby is already a few weeks old

  • You are delivering far from the Greenville area

Not sure which one is right for you? A lot of families book both. The Fresh 48 captures the hospital hours. The newborn session captures those first weeks at home. They tell a complete story together.

FAQ

Do I need to let the hospital know in advance? Most hospitals in the Greenville area allow credentialed photographers in postpartum rooms. I recommend mentioning it when you complete your pre-admission paperwork, and I can provide documentation if your hospital requires it. We will talk through this before your due date.

What if my baby comes early? Reach out as soon as baby arrives and we figure it out together. I keep flexibility around due dates for exactly this reason.

What if I have a C-section? Absolutely. C-section births are beautiful and worth documenting. Recovery time may shift the timing slightly, and we just adjust accordingly.

Can siblings be included? Yes. Sibling introductions are some of my favorite moments to photograph. Just let me know ahead of time so I can plan timing around when they will visit.

How many images will I receive? [INSERT: e.g., "Fresh 48 galleries typically include 40 to 60 fully edited images, depending on the length of the session and how much is happening."]

What if my labor does not go as planned? Babies and labor are unpredictable. If your delivery situation changes significantly, we talk through your options. My priority is that you feel taken care of, not locked in.

Do you photograph at hospitals outside Greenville? I primarily serve hospitals in the Greenville, Simpsonville, and Upstate SC area, including Patewood Memorial Hospital and St. Francis. Reach out with your hospital location and we can confirm availability.
