Meet baby Oliver, he was just the most precious little guy with a head full of hair! I got to photograph his Fresh 48 session at Patewood Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina, with his parents Mattie and Parker soaking up every second of those first two days.
Oliver is baby number two for this family, and that made this session a little different in the best way. With a toddler already at home, the hospital stay became something Mattie described almost like a mini vacation, quiet mornings, no laundry piling up, nurses bringing snacks, and nothing to do but hold their new baby and rest. If you already have a little one running around at home, there is a real case to be made for a Fresh 48 session precisely because of that pocket of calm. It will not last, and it is worth documenting.
We moved through the hospital room slowly that morning, catching the small things: Oliver's hand wrapped around his dad's finger, the particular way Mattie looked at him mid-feeding, the hospital bracelets, the tiny knit hat, the light coming through the window onto the bassinet. Fresh 48 sessions capture a window of time that quite literally cannot be recreated once you're home and back in the swing of things, even at the most intense and love filled hours.
