Baby Caulder's In-Home Newborn Session | Laurens, SC

The first time I met Caulder, he was only hours old, tucked into a hospital bassinet at Patewood Hospital in Greenville for his Fresh 48 session. A few weeks later, I got to see him again, this time at home in Laurens, a little more filled out, a little more awake, and completely settled into the family that had been waiting for him.

That's one of my favorite things about photographing a family twice in those early weeks. The hospital photos hold the very beginning: the bracelet, the swaddle, the first hours. The in-home session holds what comes next, when the visitors have gone home and real life with a newborn starts.

For Caulder's session, we stayed right at home in Laurens. We started in the nursery, where the sweet southern mallard duck theme was so beautifully displayed. His crib, decorations, and silver rattle were all delicately placed. Caulder slept through nearly all of it, and we went at his pace, the way every newborn session should.

Some of my favorites from the day are of the two brothers loving on each other! Next to his Fresh 48 gallery, you can see just how much he changed in a few short weeks.

From the Hospital to Home: Why Families Book Both

A Fresh 48 session and an in-home newborn session capture two very different moments. The Fresh 48 happens in the hospital within the first day or two, so it holds the newness: first meetings, hospital details, and those first family photos. The in-home session happens in the first two to three weeks, once you're home, and it's all about the life you're building in your own space.

Many of my families book both, and I offer a Fresh 48 and in-home newborn bundle so you can have the whole story without choosing between them. You can learn more about the in-home sessions on my newborn photography page and the hospital sessions on my Fresh 48 page.

What an In-Home Newborn Session Looks Like

In-home sessions are relaxed and unposed. I come to you, we use the rooms with the best natural light, and we follow your baby's lead. If they need to eat, we pause. If big siblings need a snack break, we take one. You don't need to stage your house or buy props. The goal is to photograph your family the way it actually looks right now.

Booking Your Newborn Session in Laurens and the Upstate

I'm based in Piedmont and photograph newborn sessions across Laurens, Greenville, Simpsonville, Anderson, and the rest of the Upstate. A small travel fee applies for sessions more than 30 miles from Piedmont. If you're expecting, the best time to reach out is during your second trimester, so we can hold space around your due date. Check availability here.

Welcome home, sweet Caulder. It was such a gift to get to see you twice.
