Fresh 48 at Patewood Hospital: What Greenville Parents Can Expect
If you're delivering at Patewood in Greenville, there's a good chance I've photographed a Fresh 48 just down the hall from your room. It's one of the hospitals I'm in most often, and over the years I've learned what makes a session there feel easy, calm, and completely about your family.
Here's what to expect if you're planning a Fresh 48 at Patewood
What a Fresh 48 session is
A Fresh 48 is a short, relaxed session in your hospital room within the first day or two after your baby arrives. It captures the newness: the hospital bracelet, the swaddle, the first time big siblings meet the baby, and your first photos as a family. If you're new to the idea, my Fresh 48 guide walks through the basics.
Timing your session at Patewood
Most families text me once baby has arrived and things have settled, and we plan the session for the next day. Mid-morning or early afternoon usually works best, after the morning rounds and when the window light is softest.
Because babies don't follow a schedule, I keep flexible availability around my Fresh 48 families' due dates.
What the room looks like in photos
At Patewood, the rooms are rather large with giant windows and neutral walls. There are cabinets that we can tuck away your overnight bag and extra pillows to keep the room clutter-free, and photogenic. I'll quietly move a few things out of frame when I arrive, like the tray table and extra cups, so the photos are about your baby, not the hospital clutter.
What to pack
A simple, soft outfit for mom, like a button-front top or robe in a neutral or muted color
Comfortable, coordinating clothes for your partner and siblings
A swaddle or blanket from home, if you'd like something personal in the photos
A going-home outfit or a special keepsake for the baby
You don't need hair and makeup done. Tired and glowing is exactly right. My secret is actually sleeping in those heatless curl headbands; they are effortless and you won’t have to worry about your hair!
Bringing siblings
Siblings meeting the baby is one of my favorite parts of any Fresh 48. Plan for them to arrive a after I do, so the first meeting happens naturally and I can catch it. Check Patewood's current visitor policy before your session, since hospital rules can change.

Booking your Patewood Fresh 48
The best time to book is during your second trimester, so we can hold your due date window. Many families pair it with an in-home newborn session a couple of weeks later. You can see both on my Fresh 48 page, or reach out here to check availability.
