There is nothing quite like the quiet of a newborn session in the first two weeks of life. Rowan's family welcomed me into their Travelers Rest home for exactly that kind of morning, soft light through the nursery window, a freshly washed swaddle, and a baby who slept through most of it like he already knew how good he had it.

This is what I love most about in-home lifestyle newborn photography. No studio, no travel, no getting a brand new baby dressed and buckled into a car seat before they are even a week old. Rowan's session had all the little details that make these mornings so special: tiny fingers wrapped around mom's, the nursery you spent months preparing finally being used, and that particular stillness that only exists in the first days of a baby's life. Travelers Rest is one of my favorite pockets of the Upstate to shoot in, and this family's home gave us beautiful natural light to work with all morning.
